We are evaluating the environmental dimensions of our activities, products and services, the probable direct or indirect effects to the environment from the point of formation frequency, intensity and legislation in addition to specifiying the control mechanisms after making environmental impact-dimension analysis.
We are targeting to maintain our leadership not only in quality, customer satisfaction and technology, but also in health and security issues. Therefore, we are making continuous development and consciousness raising operations in accordance with this target.
Training Programs for Occupational Safety, Health and Environment
Periodic training programs regarding occupational safety in accordance with OHSAS 18001 are regularly organised in our company not only for our own employees but also for our subcontractors. Within the scope of orientation and job starting training programs, before all else, Occupational Health and Safety, and Basic Environmental Information Training is arranged for all our newly started employees. The training programs about ISO 14001- Environmental Management System and OHSAS 18001-Occupational Heath and Safety Management System, are planned annually by our Occupational Health, Safety and Environment department together with Human Resources department and announced accordingly to all other departments.
Risk Analysis ve Risk Management
We are targeting to eliminate at source the the dangers that threaten our occupational safety in all our units stemming from either machinery, environment, process or person through yearly repeating risk analysis, and we are making proactive risk management by the help of continuously overviewed action plans.
Environmental Goals
We are making studies in accordance with our yearly renewed environmental goals to diminish the usage of the natural resources in all our units and also to diminish the amount of waste products that emanate consequently.
Waste Management
In our facilities, within the scope of our Waste Management System, we either eliminate or recycle all our waste products after decomposing them at source.
We have a priority for recycling the dangerous waste products. On the one hand, we are eliminating the waste products, which are impossible to recycle, by sending them to the facilities that took out necessary licenses from Ministry of Environment and Forestry. On the other hand, we are enabling the recycling of the packaging waste products, which are possible to recycle, by sending them to the facilities that took out necessary licenses from Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Control of Chimney Gas Emissions
We are measuring emissions at all the chimneys quarterly in our facilities and comparing the results to the legal limits in order to take necessary precautions in case of need. On the other hand, bi yearly we are getting the measurements done by an accredited laboratory from Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
Wastewater Management
We have both domestic and industrial wastewater sources emanating from our production facilities. Domestic wastewaters are purified through biological processes whereas industrial wastewaters are purified by physical, chemical and biological processes. The purified wastewaters are discharged to the channel of Istanbul Water and Canalization Administration. The water going out of the Wastewater Treatment Plant is being analyzed by our Quality System - R&D Laboratory half-weekly and also by an accredited laboratory quarterly, and the results of these analysises are recorded.
Management of Chemical Materials
We are following all the chemicals used in our facilities through Chemical Material Pursuit Lists. We make Material Security Information Forms intended for chemicals in our material storage and usage areas available, and spread them through Assan Aluminium’s ERP System so that we can inform all our employees about them.
Emergency States
In Assan Alüminyum, we have prepared an Emergency State Plan and defined the intervention teams required for the emergency states that are within the scope of ISO 14001 Enviromental Management System and OHSAS 18001. Periodically, we are making evacuation practices for emergency states within our company.
